Buyers tips to consider: - Take a look at your downpayment capabilities. For first time buyers, consider the First Time Home Buyers Incentive.

Check your credit rating. Equifax will calculate your score, among other factors, based on payment history, the amount of debt you carry and the length of your credit history. While there is no magic number, lenders will typically consider a score of 660 to 900 as acceptable and low risk.

Mortgage pre-approval. Many homeowners are using the strategy of holding offers, meaning that most are in the position to take the highest and best offer. Pre-approval will allow you to lock in a rate for 120 days giving you time to shop the market and be ready to make a strong offer when you find that perfect property.
