This month we are celebrating quintessential Canadian summers spent at the cottage. We've asked the team at the McGregor Hahne Group and their families to give us their favourite thing about life at the lake or best childhood memory of long, lazy summer days. Here's what they had to say.
"As a kid my family and I enjoyed summer vacations at my Aunt and Uncle's cottage on Lake Bernard between Burks Falls and Sundridge. This is where I learned to swim!
As an adult my favourite memories of summer involve boating on Georgian Bay and exploring its hidden gems. I met the love of my life at The Meaford Boat Show. My boat was called, ‘The Snarly Beaver’ and I invited some bikini clad beauties for a ride. One bikini clad beauty refused my invitation exclaiming, “No Thank you, I have my own boat!”…….and the rest is history. Today we have a boat together and she lets me drive it too!" - Max & Tammy
"I spent my youth summers at home playing in and around Inglis Falls with my two brothers and friends. When not at home we would be at our cottage on Lake Huron enjoying the sun, sand and water! "Spunky" the Boat was a hit for a few summers! Our days always ended at the lakeside with a fire, s'mores and watching the amazing sunsets over Lake Huron's vista." - James
"When I think back to my childhood summers I remember playing outside with all the neighbourhood children. We would spend hours skipping, playing imaginary games, building forts and exploring in the nearby forests. I feel so lucky to have grown up in such a great neighbourhood that allowed me to have those experiences." - Jen
"My favourite summer memories are hanging out with all my cousins at my grandma's cottage. We play badminton, swim in the lake and I like to mess up all their beds in the cabin after they make them so they have to do it again." - Keagan
"My favourite things in the summer are my birthday (July 4th) and being with my cousins at our family cottage. I love playing capture the flag with them, swinging in the hammock and swimming." - Isla
"My ideal summer is spent anywhere where I can throw my line in off the dock!" - Lukas
"Our family cottage is at Aylesford Lake in Kings County, NS. My favourite childhood memory from summers at the lake, was taking out the canoe or sailboat with my grandparents to all the little islands dotted around the lake, and choosing one at random to pull in and roll out our picnic. In the evenings we would sit around the campfire, listening to the loons and watching the fireflies light up the trees around the property. Pure magic."
Wherever that special place is for you and your families, we wish you safe and happy times building wonderful memories. Read on to see this month's featured property wondrously perched on 3.6 acres with over 300 feet of pristine Georgian Bay waterfront. Consider creating generations of memories at this breathtaking property!

Has Work-From-Home Culture Changed the Cottage Industry?
Realtor.ca - Michelle McNally
As recent as two years ago, traveling to the cottage was an event reserved for the weekends and summer months. Now, thanks to the rise in remote working, more and more Canadians are taking their full-time nine-to-five jobs to cottage country.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of Canadians have migrated permanently to rural vacation markets, regions that have traditionally served as vacation and cottage hotspots. This heightened demand has sent recreational property prices higher and inventory lower, with multiple buyers competing for cottages that offer the ability to work from home in Canada’s picturesque countryside. For many, working remotely from the cottage is a decision not just driven by real estate prices, but also a change of pace.
It's Five O'Clock Somewhere: 5 Canadian Wine Tours to Take This Summer.
It’s always happy hour somewhere, or at least it’ll feel like it is when you’re surrounded by idyllic vineyards, flights of carefully curated wines, quaint bed and breakfasts, and an array of activities that’ll leave no room for boredom. Canada may not be the first country that comes to mind when wine is the topic of discussion, yet our winemakers often give those in France, Italy, and Spain a run for their money.
Ontario’s Prince Edward County and Niagara-on-the-Lake are obvious, reliable choices for wine tastings and deserve mentions, but it’s always exciting and rewarding to discover new wineries, varieties, and regions.
Don’t believe it? You should see, swirl, and sip for yourself! With hundreds of officially designated wine regions across the country, you can spend time this summer touring an array of wineries. We’ve rounded up five tours you can take on a day trip or a weekend getaway.

Flowers spread happiness and have an uplifting effect on anyone who received them. With the world in lockdown, sales rose (pun intended) by 10 percent. Thanks in part to the amplifying effect of social media and to new and exciting designers who turn floral extravagant into a flourishing business. It’s five in the morning and the streets of New York are nearly empty as Lewis Miller rumbles up Sixth Avenue in his truck.
Miller calls his floral invasion of public space a “flower flash,” and the colourful arrays couldn’t be more suited for Instagram. Brilliant blue hydrangeas, brazenly pick carnations, lilies, gladiolas, rose and delphiniums. And not just a few, either, but at least as many as you can hold in your arms. Usually more. And whatever the California-raised floral designer can get his hands on.
